[ET Net News Agency, 8 September 2025] Half-day turnover of Hong Kong stocks was
HK$165.92 billion, with short-sales accounting for HK$17.59 billion, or 10.6% of the
market's turnover. There were 715 short-selling stocks. BABA-W (09988) and TRACKER FUND
(02800) saw higher value of short sales, accounting for HK$1.91 billion and HK$1.09
billion, or 10.84% and 6.18% of the total short sales value respectively. The transactions
represented 15.1% and 26.68% of respective stock's turnover.
TENCENT (00700) and MEITUAN-W (03690) registered HK$899.67 million and HK$598.56 million
of short sales, accounting for 5.12% and 3.4% of the total short sales values
respectively. The transactions represented 13.06% and 10.85% of respective stock's
turnover.
BABA-W closed up HK$4.9, or 3.72%, to HK$136.7. TRACKER FUND ended up HK$0.12, or 0.46%,
to HK$26.1. TENCENT rose HK$6.5, or 1.07% to HK$612. MEITUAN-W declined by HK$0.5, or
0.49%, to HK$102.5.
