[ET Net News Agency, 26 February 2025] Half-day turnover of Hong Kong stocks was
HK$181.56 billion, with short-sales accounting for HK$24.96 billion, or 13.75% of the
market's turnover. There were 686 short-selling stocks. BABA-W (09988) and XIAOMI-W
(01810) saw higher value of short sales, accounting for HK$3.77 billion and HK$2.2
billion, or 15.09% and 8.8% of the total short sales value respectively. The transactions
represented 27.04% and 19.73% of respective stock's turnover.
TENCENT (00700) and HSCEI ETF (02828) registered HK$1.51 billion and HK$1.38 billion of
short sales, accounting for 6.06% and 5.52% of the total short sales values respectively.
The transactions represented 14.98% and 14.77% of respective stock's turnover.
BABA-W closed up HK$6.2, or 4.75%, to HK$136.8. XIAOMI-W ended up HK$2, or 3.76%, to
HK$55.2. TENCENT rose HK$17.2, or 3.55% to HK$502. HSCEI ETF jumped HK$2.36, or 2.71%, to
HK$89.3.
