[ET Net News Agency, 3 March 2025] Half-day turnover of Hong Kong stocks was HK$179.6
billion, with short-sales accounting for HK$22.24 billion, or 12.38% of the market's
turnover. There were 679 short-selling stocks. BABA-W (09988) and XIAOMI-W (01810) saw
higher value of short sales, accounting for HK$3.22 billion and HK$2.02 billion, or 14.47%
and 9.07% of the total short sales value respectively. The transactions represented 22.5%
and 16.38% of respective stock's turnover.
TENCENT (00700) and HSCEI ETF (02828) registered HK$1.57 billion and HK$1.39 billion of
short sales, accounting for 7.05% and 6.27% of the total short sales values respectively.
The transactions represented 17.64% and 9.28% of respective stock's turnover.
BABA-W closed up HK$3.8, or 2.98%, to HK$131.3. XIAOMI-W ended down HK$0.2, or 0.39%, to
HK$51.65. TENCENT rose HK$12.6, or 2.63% to HK$491.2. HSCEI ETF jumped HK$0.96, or 1.11%,
to HK$87.06.
